Unable to resize volumes when recovering image

Thread needs solution

When attempting to deploy a volume that is larger than the target drive, an error occurs when attempting to resize the volume.

Code: 9,764,650(0x950001)
LineInfo: 0x3F1F68EF07E39594;

Module: disk_bundle_glx_pic
Message: Invalid parameters were specified

Volume size in backup: 130GB
New volume size: 20.37GB (no size I've tried works)
There is sufficient free space in the volume to resize it.
Filesystem on the volume is ext3
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 (build 11.0.17440)

Please help, I have tried recreating the backup image with various settings and deploying the backup image on various hard drives but also get this error.

Regards
Dirk

This error is displayed exactly because resizing is prohibited, and it's prohibited because the archive is location on the storage that doesn't support restore with resize, such as FTP, tapes or removable media (cd, dvd and 'removable' usb thumb drives)

Hi Fedor

Thanks for the help. Maybe it would be a good idea to document that USB thumb drives are not supported for this operation.

Thanks
Dirk

For tapes and DVDs there is KB about this limitation - http://kb.acronis.com/ru/node/21595 . For ftp there is no documented limitation, indeed. For USB - it's a bug that's is fixed or being fixed - i.e. resizing must be prohibited only if the archive is spanned across several USB drives.

Is this ever going to be fixed?
