Unable to run 11639 Upgrade on domain controller

Thread needs solution

Hi,

We currently have Acronis Backup & Recovery 11345 installed on our domain controllers but when I download and try to upgrade it using the executable for 11639 I get a windows error message stating: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item". Which doesn't actually make sense to me as it is stored in the same location on the local C drive as the 11345.exe which runs without any problems.

Also, when you right click and select properties on the executable you get the version information of the 11345.exe but not on the 11639.exe.

Does any one have any idea why this could be happening?

Any help or advise would be very appreciated.

Regards

Sean

Hello Sean,

Thank you for your question. I will definitely assist you.

At the moment it is not clear why this issue occurs, however we can try several things to resolve this problem.

Can you please provide me with the full name of the installation file.

I will send you a private message with a checksum value and from your side, you can use a checksum calculator to generate another file checksum so that we can compare them. This way, we will make sure that the file is indeed for Acronis Backup and Recovery 11639.

You can also try modifying the folder permissions: Properties -> Security -> Add everyone.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or any other issues.

Thank you.

Hi Anton,

Thanks for getting back to me, first of all the folder definately has the correct settings on it. a) because I'm using a domain admin account for the installation on a domain controller, so I have full access to eveything on the server, and b) it is in the exact same folder as the previous upgrade file I used to upgrade Acronis to 11345. The check sum value I have is MD5: 489C0B2D389969BEA0555E4F3DCDFF57.

I hope this helps but I'm a bit sceptical because this exact same file from the same location runs successfully on our non domain controllers.

Let me know if you require anything else.

Thanks

Hello Sean.

Right click on the installer and select properties. Make sure at the bottom of the properties windows the file isn't reported as "Locked" or "blocked" due to security policies. In that case just click "unlock"
