Uncomplete ACRONIS SQL instance installation fails Microsoft KB970892 update on Windows 7 machine

Thread needs solution

When I try to install Microsoft KB970892 on a Windows 7 machine, I receive the following error.

MSP Error: 29565 SQL Server Setup cannot upgrade the specified instance because the previous upgrade did not complete. Start the Remote Registry service and go to Add/Remove Programs, select the Change button for Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and then select SQL instance ACRONIS and complete the setup.

I tried to perform the steps mentioned in the error message but Windows Installer couldn't find the file sqlrun_sql.msi file (which was originally under h:\df10c1a7eae09428691aed18d8682a8d\Setup\ . This folder was created temporarily during Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 installation and deleted after the installation)

I downloaded SQL Server 2005 edition from Microsoft and extracted it including sqlrun_sql.msi but Windows Installer gave an error messsage and still asked for the file which came with the Acronis setup.

Any idea how I can fix this problem without reinstalling Acronis B&R again?

Thanks

Hello Ozgur,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

The easiest way for now is to uninstall Acronis Backup & Recovery 10.0, install Microsoft KB970892 and after that install Acronis software again.
