Universal Restore boot failing in Windows 7 Virtual PC?

Thread needs solution

Trying to boot, either from ISO or from CD of Universal Restore (either downloaded or created by ABR10), fails in my Windows 7 Virtual PC. Same process works fine on my Vista workstation. Anyone else encounter this? It's caused me lots of wasted time trying to figure out what is going wrong. Of course I sent in a support request, have not heard from anyone.

Sorry mate, can't help. I have just tried the same thing, and I can verify the backup and everything but when I restore it to disk then it simply won't boot.
Will have to re-install Windows 7, reinstall all software, wait for all of the service packs to install, and pull all documents from backup.
If Acronis don't come up with a solution to this then I'm going to have to presume that the money I've spent with them on versions, upgrades, additional products (including Disk Director) was all a waste because there are plenty of products out there that do simple backup

To clarify, my problem is not in backing up or restoring Windows 7, but being able to boot to the universal restore CD/ISO from within Windows 7's Virtual PC (WVPC). I CAN boot to the universal restore CD/ISO from Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 (VPC2007).

It starts to boot to the universal restore CD/ISO, I choose to boot to the CD from the graphic menu, I see "Loading please wait" on the screen, but then the virtual session crashes and shuts down immediately and I can't catch any errors.

I presume that there is an incompatibility between WVPC and the universal restore CD/ISO, based on my experiences, but of course I would like to know if anyone else has tried this (you don't even need to start the restore process, just see if you can actually make it to the main screen where you can choose to continue). I can't format my old Vista workstation until this is resolved--it is currently the only computer I have which can boot up to the universal restore CD/ISO from a virtual machine, which I need to be able to do in order to create a VHD from an existing TIB backup.

Hope this makes more sense.

I talked to someone at Acronis yesterday and they were going to email me a new ISO to fix this issue...but I never got it. Can anyone from Acronis send this to me???
