Universal Restore V2P fails to create a bootable system

Thread needs solution

I had a PC starting to fail so I backed up the system using Acronis. I then converted the backup file to VMWare server with no issues and have been up and running just fine in the virtual machine for weeks. My problem is that I have now repaired (repalced the SCSI Card and Drives) on the hardware and need to restore the Virtual Machine back to the hardware (V2P) using Universal Restore.

Everything seems to work, I boot off the CD, select the Universal Restore (Full Version) and restore from my USB Hard drive the image of the virtual machine onto my new drive (It's a Raid 1 set) on the PC. It asks for drivers so I give it the driver disk and everything seems fine until I reboot. Once the system tries to load on the hardware Windows starts to load and suddenly stops on the WinXP logo screen and reboots the PC. Same thing when I try to boot into safe mode.

I tried doing a clean format and install of windows using the floppy with the SCSI drivers and it seems to work just fine, but when I restore the image and use the same floppy Windows will not boot. Is there something I need to do to the Virtual Machine before backing it up that I am missing? I'd say it has something to do with the SCSI drivers, but you'd think Windows wouldn't try to load at all if that was the case.

Any suggestions?

Hello Carl,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

The exact reason of the encountered issue is unknown, I would recommend you to create another Acronis Bootable Rescue Media based on ISOLINUX, it can help to resolve the issue.

ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the Acronis Loader one. This is due to the fact a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the website more frequently than regular product updates are released.

We have implemented the possibility to download the appropriate ISO file after logging in to your account (the serial number should be registered). Please log in to your account, go to the Registered products and downloads section -> Bootable media. Download the file.

You can find more information on how to burn an ISO image to a CD here.

Please recover the archive using the new CD and see if the issue remains. If the issue still persists, could you please confirm that you are using Acronis True Image Echo version.

We are looking to hearing back from you.

Thank you.
