Upgrading ABR10 to ABR11
Hello,
I was using "ABR10 Advanced Server build 13545"; I downloaded and installed "ABR11 Advanced Server Build 17318".
Installation went smoothly with no errors but after rebooting the server, the service "Acronis Management Server Service" stopped.
I started it manually then I ran the management console and tried to connect to the server, the same above service stopped again!!!
I reviewed the logs and found out that the service account is locked; I UN-locked the account and tried again; the service is stopped again!!!
After trying many times; the account is locked again!!!
PS: ABR10 was working smoothly with no errors; I used the same accounts configured on ABR10 to install ABR11.
Any help?
Thanks,

this is an open forum. Nobody is obliged to answer you. You could contact acronis support - they'll answer.
Anyway - here's my guess:
Windows locks accounts when log-ins fail with wrong passwords. You might try checking the log-on password for the management server - or use a new service user just to be safe.
If the error persists, try activating account auditing to see failed logons in the windows event logs.
Additionally - if the service fails because of bad credentials, there should be an error message in the windows events (system category).

Hi Mohammad
Heiko is correct in saying this is an open forum/community and not an official line of support for Acronis. If your issue is urgent I would also recommend for you to contact Acronis support direct to get this issue looked into... What I’ve found in the past generally when people don’t reply to forum posts such as this one, it can be due to other’s not having or experiencing the same issue before (eg, not a common issue). As much as other users might like to help they simply do not know how to so Acronis support would be the best method, having said that I’ve also found keeping the forum post alive is good as you can post any solutions that support helps you with so other users can benefit from it in the future.
A few points I can suggest double checking for the user that runs the service is the following:
- Ensure the user has “Log on as a service” privileges
- Ensure the user has Create/Read/Write/Modify rights for the AMS Database folder (eg, owner or admin of the AMS SQL database files)
- Ensure the user has the following permissions for the 'HKLM/SOFTWARE/Acronis' registry key’s:
* Query Value: the user can read a value entry.
* Set Value: the user can read and modify a value entry.
* Create Subkey: the user can create a new subkey.
* Enumerate Subkeys: the user can expand and read the subkeys.
* Notify: the user can audit notification events for a key.
* Delete: the user can delete a key.
* Read Control: the user can read a key’s security information.
Sorry I could not be of much more help but hopefully something above might help out and if not other forum users might or Acronis support should be able to find the cause and offer a solution for you

I had the same problem. After upgrading to ABR11 from ABR10, the Acronis Management Server Service would not start. I believe I was having a problem with the way the install places the files. I don't have my install on the C: drive. The install seems to want to place some of the files there, but yet the service was still looking on the E: drive where I originally installed ABR10. So basically it was ignoring that I'm telling it to use the E: drive, installing itself to the C: drive but not updating the path to the service executable.
I didn't have time at the moment to work with Acronis support, but they did contact me. I just rolled my server back to ABR10 until I have a chance to upgrade again. (Thank goodness for Virtual Servers and snapshots!) :)
