V 9.0 doesn't recognize external drive

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to create a bootable recovery backup using V 9.0. The software doesn't recognize the Western Digital external drive, just a CD/RW or a zip drive. How can I get ti to recognize the external drive?

Hello Willetta,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

There are several steps that you can perform:

1) First of all, please make sure that you are using the latest build of Acronis True Image 9.0 Home (#3854). You can find out the build number by selecting "Help" option, "About". if the build number differs from the latest one, please log in to your account on our web site to download the installation file. You can learn more on how to download the latest build in this article. Install the new build, recreate Acronis Bootable Rescue Media and see if the issue remains.

2) If this doesn't help, please create ISOLINUX Rescue Media. I am sending a file to you via Private Messages (they are available at the left side of the screen), please burn the ISO file to a CD disk and try the new CD.

Please see this article on how to burn an ISO file to a CD disk.

3) If the issue persists, you should upgrade the license to Acronis True Image Home 2010. I may recommend you to install a trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 available here in order to make sure that the program runs flawless for you. Create Acronis Bootable Rescue Media and check its' functionality.

If you would like to purchase the upgrade to Acronis True Image Home 2010, please visit the Acronis online store.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawless for you. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
