Video problems with Intel 82815 chipset and bootable media

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to use ABR 10 bootable media with a National Instruments PXI-8176 Compact PCI controller. The onboard video is an Intel 82815 integrated graphics and it does not work with the existing bootable media. I can read some of the dialogs but there are vertical lines through most of the screen. On Intel's site, they say it has to use the vga16fb driver not the vesafb driver:
http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intel810/sb/cs-009118.htm#POS13

It looks like the kernel loads vga16fb.ko and I've even tried to force it using various combinations of the following without success:
video=vga16fb
video=vesa:off
video=vga16fb:800x600-4@60

I tried two different bootable media downloads from the support site for ABR 10 Workstation (build 12703) and ABR10 Advanced Workstation (build 12708) but neither of these show a splash screen and instead display:
"Acronis Loader: Unable to run Boot menu. Press to continue..."
Pressing Enter to continue ends up the same garbled screen as before with vertical stripes through it.

I discovered the /bin/trueimagecmd utility and that might work for us in an emergency but the personnel who will be using this system will not be very proficient in command line usage so I'd really like to get the GUI working if possible since we'll be doing regular bare-metal restores. Is there a way to run the Acronis Agent from the command line? That might be an option for us.

This controller works fine in Windows. I'm going to try a Knoppix CD to see if I can get it to work in framebuffer mode.

Thanks,
-Bob
