What would you do?
I have run into a problem. I have many video files (not from DVD, so no, nothing illegal) and as you all know they take up much, much space. Plus many photos, music etc. The problem I have run into now is that I have a 2 bay enclosure that holds over 2TB of hdd but unless you run Vista in GPT it won't use all of it and I don't want to waste any of my 1TB and 1.5TB (2.5TB) hdd. The problem is when using that much it won't run MBR but only GPT. Ok, no problem you say, well my backup program Acronis 11 won't restore it in GPT. Would you buy a NAS? I have another computer that I use mainly for my Russound whole house audio and not much else. Could I use that? I have so much info to backup and transfer, I can't have a slow download. My system is a gig system but the NAS won't get that. I think my other computer should be able to handle that or not? What would you do????

One thing I would NOT do is to use True Image for backing up music, pics, video or any data files. TI will not give you any advantage in compression since those files are already in a compressed form. True Image is good for doing a whole disc backup and subsequent restore.
For data I like Karen's Replicator ... others use Microsoft's Sync Toy.

Wouldn't backing up the entire computer be considered whole disc? I guess that confuses me. Could you explain further why True image is not good for music etc? What does Karen's Rep. or MS toy do that TI won't do? I guess I find myself becoming more ignorant all the time. You think you know things but someone always has to show you just how much you don't know. I guess it keeps us humble.

Just thought of this. If something goes wrong with my computer or whatever is TI not the easiest to back up from?
How would you use them both in unison? What would you use specifically for TI to back up and what would you use MS toy to backup? Please help the ignorant. Thanks.

If you need to move to new disk, use of TI makes it very easy to perform if you have the necessary backups.. Check my signature link below and look at the listings under item #12. This will give you a few alternatives.
