Thread needs solution

Hi, does anybody know if when installing ABR10 Advanced Workstation on win 7 is there still going to be a problem with snapman.sys and card readers?
Thanks
Stephen

Hello Stephen,

Thank you for taking time to contact us.

I assume I understand what you are speaking about, please correct me if I am wrong. Installing and using the build #11105 of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 caused a BSOD issue if several kinds of card readers were present at the system. Investigating the dump files pointed to snapman.sys driver.

The issue was caused by an old build of SnapAPI module. We fixed the issue for SnapAPI build #468. You can update the program to the build #11133 (it already has built-in SnapAPI module #468), or if you are an owner of the UK licenses, you can proceed according with the guide available here

Thank you.

Hi Oleg, yes that's what I was refering to because I am about to upgrage my Laptop in aprox 2 weeks, it comes with windows 7 ultimate 64 & has a built in 5in1 card reader so I am a bit worried about the install of ABR10 because when I previously installed the Agent on one of my Vista 64 desktops I had the trouble with snapman.sys and was able to remove the internal card reader via usb, but on the Laptop I will not be able to!
*Can I ask. I plan to Retire my old Laptop which I use now as the management server for ABR10 & want to use my new Laptop in it's place which will come with Windows 7 64.
I ask because of the MAC address is locked to ABR10 on the old Laptop, what will I have to do?
Thanks very much
Stephen

Hello Stephen,

Thank you for your response.

I understand you are concerned, I will provide you with the solution.

If you want to move licenses of an Acronis product along with the corresponding information (e.g. which of them were used) from one instance of Acronis License Server to another, you should move the following folder from the source machine to the target one:

- Windows 2000/XP/2003 \Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Application Data\Acronis\License Server

- Windows Vista/2008 \ProgramData\Acronis\License Server\

Please note that the restart of the following services may be required.

* Go to Start -> Run -> services.msc

* Right-click on the following Acronis services, and click on Restart:

- Acronis Managed Machine Service;
- Acronis Remote Agent;
- Acronis Scheduler2 Service.

Thank you.
