Windows 7 imaging with Acronis Agent installed?

Thread needs solution

Hey!

Here I've read that it is not recommended to install agents on a Windows 7 image which will be syspreped afterwards to be rolled out to many other machines.

Are there any know issues when doing that with the Acronis Backup agent?

After rolling my image out the computername will change. Also a domain user will logon to the system instead of a local administrator (who installed the agent before).

Do I have to expect any problems when preinstalling the Acronis Backup agent to a system which will be generalized by sysprep and captured by imagex?

Thank you!
Cheers!

Hello VEC Software!

Thank you for finding time to contact us via Forum and share your concerns with us!

Unfortunately we never tested this scenario, but still we do not expect any issues with it. Should you face any problem or inconvenience, don't hesitate to let us know about it at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you.

I'd also like to mention that should you need to avoid using sysprep, but still need to have the same OS configuration on different machines with the changed usernames, SID and autojoining the domain, I'd advise you to test our Acronis Snap Deploy 3 for PCs. The trial version is full functional and has no limitations except:

  1. 15 days of work
  2. Only 5 machines can be deployed with 1 trial license

Images created and machines deployed doesn't expire with the trial version - all will remain as if deployment was performed with the same version.

You can find more details regarding functionality of this product in the User's Guide, as well as difference between ABR and ASD and main steps of image creation and deployment in this thread.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you.
