Windows7: what partition to restore?

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I made a fulldiksk image of my harddisk with ABR 10(which does consist of 4 partitions(Sony VAIO).

Now I am required to rebuild my Win7 based system. I am trying to restore the first 100MB in size partition and partition C:, but withou success :-(
(i dont know, if I am trying to restore the wrong partitions, or i am doing something elso wrong)

Questions:
1:
Should it be in generally be ok to restore those 2 partitions?

2.
Can somebody give me a link/URL where it's described how to restore a single partition of a multiple partiton fulldisk image with ABR?

Thank's a lot for any feedback!

John

Please define 'without success'. For the beginning, does it fail after you press 'ok' on recover task setup page or it's impossible to set up recover parameters in the way you need? Where is the backup stored ( isn't it tape or dvd disk(s) that will prevent restore with resize if it's required) ?
2) should be pretty straightforward - you select backup, select recover 'as volumes', check partitions to be recovered, then map them 'where to restore' (in you case - on their original place, on existing partitions) one after other, setting their parameters (primary/active, size) as needed.

Thank's for the feedback!

I would like to restore (only) some selected partitions of a fulldrive image(stored on an external harrdisk(USB-attached))
to an unpartitioned harddisk ...

I don't get an error message. But as I understand re-partitioning within ABR is required, before beeing able
to restore some selected partitions. I think the partitioning process is confusing me..

Let's consider a basic MBR disk. If the disk is empty, even without master boot record, you need to initialize it first in 'disk management'. Then proceed with recover and select 'unallocated space' as a destination for each partition.
