App-Aware Backup & Replication with iSCSI drives
Hello,
I just want to know if I can do Application Aware Backup, and also Replication of virtual machine (running Exchange 2013) if this machine has attached iSCSI volume from NAS (with Microsoft iSCSI connector), and on this volume is one of the databases from Exchange...
Would everything will be fine, or it will not do the backup for this iSCSI volume?
Thank you for quick info...

I found some articles on the internet, that if I want to backup something on the NAS iSCSI volume, i have to create new HDD on ESXI for VM which will be located on this NAS iSCSI Datastore....
Then everything should work without a problem...??

Hi Marin,
Yes, this is a viable solution - create a datastore on iSCSI LUN backed by NAS, then create a virtual disk on this datastore and use this disk as Exchange DB storage. In this case the agent-less backup will be capable of snapshotting the disk and capturing all required data.
Thank you.
