Backing up specific disk or partition

Thread needs solution

I am trying to backup a specific guest partition to Acronis online backup. The partition has 25GB of data, but Acronis transfers over 40GB before I start getting connection time-out errors. I have put in file exclusions for all other partitions, but that does not seem to help. Am I doing something wrong?

In future versions, it would be very nice to be able to select specific disks and/or partitions from each VM, for cases like this.

So I tried running this backup over the weekend. It ran for 36 hours, got to 75%, and uploaded about 150gb before failing with connection errors. I think I will just pay for the Acronis seed service to get the inital data into the Acronis online storage. However, it appears that the folder exclusions are not working - I excluded everything possible except the single 25gb worth of data, and it is trying to backup all 200gb of data on the server.

Hello Andrew,

Thank you for using Acronis software.

I am sorry about your Acronis Online Backup issues. Please check first, if you are using the latest build of your Acronis product. If not, please download and update to latest version.

Please be informed, that we currently running the Acronis vmProtect 8 Beta program. You can attend this program also, by following to this page. Our Developers may ask you to install this beta version additional to the existing virtual appliance and test, if the folder exclusion does work there.

Always use this format for exclusions: c:\temp\ (the missing backslash at the end will not exclude the folder)

I checked your account and want to suggest to contact Acronis support in this case to investigate in your issue. You will find more information about in our Customer Handbook.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
