Backup options

Thread needs solution

Hi, i am a new user and i should want to understand some things about backup options.
In our company, the scheduled backup has the following configuration:

-backup everyday of the week
-every single VM has a different backup position and name position
-backup type: save all backups (of this vm) in a single file
-remove automatically every backup
-simple cleaning scheme
-remove backups if older than 7 days
-never remove the last backup

-not implemented copy backup in second position
-not implemented validation after backup

QUESTIONS
-This means that before the first backup, all the others are incremental?
-If there is a corruption of the file, what measureas can i take? (implementation validation?!)
or after a week the procedure build a new complete backup (but i don't think); or after the 7 days the program will build a new backup syntetic complete (manual - italian - pag.36).

Hi Roberto,

1. AFTER the first backup, all others are incremental. A new, full backup is never created unless you delete the archive file.
2. If there is file corruption, you can perform a validation to check the archive. From what Acronis staff have said on this forum, even if a recovery point is corrupt you should still be able to use other recovery points in the archive. In your case, if you have 7 recovery points (7 days) and 1 day is corrupt, you should still be able to recover from the other 6 days.

Hi Andrew, thanks for your reply.
I have putit the validation after every planned backup and i will execute sometimes the validation on the fly.
I think i will use also the "copy backup in second position", with this option i can implement a second position of backup and in the
same time a different option of backup (for example for the first backup i use "save in one file", in the copy in second position i
can use save in separate files and at the end of the week i can do a full backup).
