Backups are reported to succeed, but actually fail if encryption is enabled.
When I enable backup encryption for a particular backup plan, the backup jobs are reported to have finished without errors. However, when I try restoring or opening files from the just finished backup, vmProtect6 often does not show any available restore point in the list (sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't). This is strange because this backup was just reported as succeeded.
Also, incremental backups do not work if encryption is enabled. The old restore points simply seem to disappear.
I am experiencing this problem on two ESXi v5 hosts. I have already tried completely reinstalling the vmProtect6 vm's. This did not solve the problems.
All these problems disappear if I disable backup encryption.
PS.
I know you cannot browse recovery points using the "View" ribbon if backups are encrypted, this is not the way I accessed the backups, I opened the backups using the "Actions->File Recovery" ribbon, and then manually specified the backup location and entered the password.
PPS.
I have not tried encrypted backups again in the latest build. Was this one of the problem which was addressed in the latest build? (It does not appear in the release notes: http://www.acronis.com/support/updates/changes.html?p=10414 )
Specs:

This bug is now confirmed by Acronis: http://kb.acronis.com/content/26772
On a sidenote,
I find it strange that this KB was already created november the 15th, I'm pretty sure it only recently appeared in the public KB list after having mailed with acronis support about this prolem.

I wanted to update this thread to indicate that I am still having the problem with the full version of the product. I am able to access the archives for a while after they are used, but eventually I am not able to open the archives and get any data out of them. Everything seems to be fine up to the point I should see a list of VM's to pick from... but the list is empty.
Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Hello everyone,
Thank you for your posts.
This issue has been fixed in vmProtect 7 and I would like to offer you a workaround for it. You can move the backup to another location without the .meta folder and restore it like this.
I am sorry for any inconvenience and if you need additional help please let me know.
Thank you.

When will vmProtect 7 be out? I am having a number of problems with 6 and support has been very bad! I have been using Acronis products for a very long time, and have never had such a bad experience. 80% of my backups for vmProtect 6 fail eventually if I have 2 or more VM's in the task.. Single system tasks seem to work fine thought.
If version 7 isn't going to be out very soon then I would like to get a copy of the beta (the 7 beta appears closed now).
Anything you can do would help as support has been absolutely terrible!

Hello Micky,
Thank you for the update. I am really sorry to hear about the issues with the software and our support.
I will not be able to provide you with an exact release date for vmProtect 7 because the date is subject to change. I forwarded your comments to our Management team so that we can avoid such situations in the future.
If you are interested in participating in the beta, you can register for it here.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
