Can't stop SSH service after running ESXi Config Backups

Thread needs solution

After running ESXi config backups in vmprotect 8, some of which failed, the ssh service remains running. Attempts to stop it manuall result in the following:

Call "HostServiceSystem.Stop" for object "serviceSystem-18" on vCenter Server "SERVERNAME" failed.

After that service shows stopped, but vCenter warning still remains saying it is running.

Hi,

It looks like that this kind of issue (disabling SSH) is a known one by VMware and they are working on a hotfix for it according to http://communities.vmware.com/message/2157123 . During ESXi configuration backup the SSH is enabled in the beginning and stopped after the backup task is finished. These operations are performed through standard VMware API of course, so looks like something went wrong while executing these operations on ESXi host side.

Thank you.
