changed to larger external hd backup will not transfer old files

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I upgrade to larger external usb hard drives i back up to.  After installing the new hard drive, the only files vmware 7 backs up is from the day i changed to the new hard drive.  Anything before that date does not back up.  What do I need to do to fix.  I tried creating new back up.

The only way i found so far to back up old files is to copy and paste to hard drive which takes 8+ hours.

Any help would be great!! Thank You!!

Hi Jay,

From your description it's unfortunately unclear which files are missing in the backup and what is backed up exactly (some set of files, disks, VMs?). It makes sense to capture some screen shots illustrating the problem and contact our support team for further assistance.

Thank you.

Acronis Virtualization Program Manager

I've come across this issue as well on our setup.  If I change a 2nd or 3rd destination, the previous backups (backups of VMs) do not transfer over.  Even if I conduct a RUN and select the 2nd or 3rd destination option, it will not transfer files from the 1st destination over.

Of course, this is in addition to the fact that Acronis doesn't really like to transfer initial VM backups from 1st to secondary locations in our setup.

We have Acrnis Enterprise for Vmware backing up about 70 Vms on 3 hosts, and backing them up to a local SAN, then remote SAN, then Remote Tape Drive.
