Create Backups/Replicas with low datastore space ?

Thread needs solution

Hello there,

i run into the problem, that my datastore is only ~570GB in size.
The VM respective the vmdk file ist around 550GB. So i have very less space left over.
The swapspace is configured to use another datastore, so the caching of VM-"RAM" isn't the problem.

But when a job starts, a snapshot will be created which then blows up the storage and the vm stops working (paused becaufe of low space).

Is it possible to ... eh... "tell" vProtect or vStorage APIs to use another store (e.g. NFS or something similar)?

With this constellation i cannot use the product. :-(

Thx in Advance,

Manuel

Hi Manuel,

The snapshot storage can be changed through standard VMware means: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cm…

After following these instructions the deltas will be created on the different datastore. Hope it helps!

Thank you.
