DELL PowerEdge T630 - Bootable Media vmprotect 9

Thread needs solution

Hi!

I have a problem with a bootable media vmprotect 9 (build 10535) on DELL PowerEdge T630 Server (13th Generation). It stucks on black screen after acronis splash screen.

I tested changing the resolution (vga=ask, for example: 640x480, 8bits) or disable acpi. Idem

Someone has already met this problem ?

Thank you for your feedback.

Hi!

We're currently investigating a very similar problem with Dell PowerEdge T620 model (internal task ID: TTASK-10767) so the issue requires investigation with our support team (very likely the solution will be the same for both models). Please collect the following information before contacting support:

Boot the problematic machine (Dell PowerEdge T630) from Acronis Backup for Vmware bootable media with EFI mode mode enabled in BIOS using the following kernel parameters (press F11, remove "quiet" word in boot menu):

ignore_loglevel debug earlyprintk=efi,keep

NOTE: the boot process with these parameters will be very long (may take up to 30-40 minutes), so this test has to be planned in advance - we'll need to check the outputs seen on the screen when the boot process completely stops.

Please add reference to this thread to your support request.

Thank you.

Hi!

We've recently created a bootable media which should work properly on this Dell PowerEdge model (in both BIOS and EFI modes). Please download the .iso from the FTP link below and boot your machine from it:

If the default boot still doesn't work properly, then boot with the same parameters as suggested in my previous comment (ignore_loglevel debug earlyprintk=efi, keep) and attach a screen shot of the outputs so that we can check them out.

Thank you.

I just recently ran into this same problem. The download link does not appear to be working anymore. Can you repost the link, or is there somewhere else I should be looking for an updated boot media?

Thanks,

Brian Rodriguez

Hi Brian,

Please find the FTP link below (there is a slightly newer .iso and should work on newer Dell models too):

The link will expire in 4 months from now.

Thank you.
