How do you set the time for the linux based virtual appliance?

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Our time zone is Eastern Standard Time (GMT -5:00) and that's what Acronis vmProtect 8 is set to. However it is 4 hours behind and this is causing backups that are supposed to run at night, run in the morning.

The only way I could see to fix it is to adjust the time zone to GMT -01:00 Azores. I haven't heard of that place or time zone before but this is the one that makes the time correct.

I just can't find where I can go in and type in a time or specify an NTP server for time sync.

Thank you!

Hello KJSTech,

Thank you for posting.

The virtual appliance gets its time from the ESXi host settings. Could you please check the NTP server on your vSphere client -> select host -> configuration tab -> time settings.

Please let me know if you need additional help.

Thank you.

Is your host bios using local time? It seems the only time to set that is during install. What does the VM bios say the time is?

Hello KJSTech,

Thank you for responding. To understand the issue better could you post some screenshots of the incorrect time as well as screenshots of the time from your ESX host.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hi KJS, did you sort this out on your own? Would be nice if you can share the steps here too.
