How many licenses do I need?

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm interested in Acronis Backup vor VMware but I'm not sure how many licenses I would need. The order form says I Need 1 license per CPU on the host. I have Hosts with 1 CPU and 1 with 2. It seems I would need 5 licenses then but do the CPUs of the VMs that are running on the hosts play a role in that calculation? Do I have to take other things into account?

Thank you for the answer!

Hi Benjamin,

The only thing that matters is the physical processor sockets count which you can check in the ESXi host summary tab in vSphere client (see attached screen shot with an example where 1 license will be required). You will need corresponding amount of Acronis Backup for VMware licenses in order to back up and replicate VMs from the ESXi host.

P.S. Note that if you have a vSphere cluster consisting of several ESXi hosts then you'll need licenses for each of them (to support cluster-related VMware features)

Thank you.

Hello ece,

one maintenance license = 1 product license. As far as I understood you use 4 Acronis Backup for VMware licenses. It means you need also 4 maintenance licenses.

Thank you.
