no license available after changing vcenter-server

Thread needs solution

Hello Vasily and Team,

we use ABfV Build 9.0.10007 with NFR in test site.
i yesterday provided a NEW vcenter 5.5 appliance.
After shutting down the old vcenter 5.1 appliance i started the new 5.5 and configured it to the SAME IP-address. Recreated the whole Cluster config and so on.

I then went to ABfV web interface. it said that the esxi host is not available.
I removed the old entry and readded it. i have the actual licence-key shown in the "license overview" but it says "left table: second column: number of licenses: 0" and i cant revoke the license from the old esxi nor delete the key.

I tried to shutdown new and restart old vcenter but same problem.

How can i revoke the license to reassing it to the 5.5 vcenter appliance?

Thanks for your help

André Schäfer

Hi,

In your case since it's a new vCenter you have to revoke the licenses first. The licenses which were bind to old ESXi host(s) can be revoked from the license management view on the right side. See the attached screen shot illustrating the revoke process.

Thank you.

Thanks for your information.

The problem is that there is no server to revoke licenses.

Even when reactivating old vcenter the server doesn't appear there to revoke license.

Hi!

Can you please send me your serial numbers (which you imported) in a private message, so that I can check them and advise? As far as I can see there is some weird license with expiration date in year 2002 which doesn't seem normal.

Thank you.
