Problem with vmProtect upgrade

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I have upgraded vmP 9.0 to last build, but I had many problems:
- I had to recreate descriptor of the primary virtual disk since at VM start I had this error: module diskearly "power on failed is not virtual disk"
- the new descriptor has helped to resolve that problem, but vmProtect has started with default configuration: every task, esx registration and licenses are disappereaded.

What can I do now?
I check in /var/lib/Acronis/vmProtect + /var/lib/Acronis/Scheduler folder, but there aren't task or other configurations...
If I create a new Appliance, can I associate new backup task to old archive? Moreover, new replica task can detect old vm replicas made by old task? Can I have problem?

thank you in advance
Kind regards

Hi Sove,

During an upgrade the 2nd virtual disk of the appliance (2-4GB) which contains user data (tasks/scheduling/etc.) is not changed, so in your case looks like something specific has happened which has broken the user data disk.

On freshly installed appliance you can re-use your existing backups, i.e. select these archives as destinations when creating new backup tasks. The same procedure works for replication tasks: you can create a new replication task with the same destination and replica suffix - it should find the existing replica and update it properly (NOTE: you may receive a warning in the replication wizard about insufficiency of free space on datastore - this warning can be ignored as it doesn't take into account existing replicas, but calculates the space as if you would create a new full replica).

Thank you.

Hi Vasily,
Therefore, tonight, what type of replica/backup will task do? Full or incremental through CBT?

Thanks

Sove

Hi Sove,

It will be incremental backup/replication using CBT.

Thank you.
