Quick Start - Quick Stop

Thread needs solution

I'm evaluating vmProtect 6 as a possible solution for my virtualized server backups. I downloaded and installed the appliance vm and used the quick start guide to walk through the fairly self explanatory steps to get my first backup. When I got to the step where I browse for a network location, I can browse through the list of servers and select a Windows 2008 share that has ample space available for my test. It asks for a username and password and when I click login it gives me the following error:

Code: 27066457 (0x19D0059)
Line: AC471D05F22A8BF7
Message: An error has occurred while getting directories for path: 'avfs:/smb?///'.

I'm able to browse to the share with the same username and password from other machines in my environment.

Any ideas? The vmProtect KB is light on the subject as far as I can tell.

Since this continued to float without any response I decided I would delete the evaluation and re-install. This seems to have cleared up the problem and I'm able to browse to network shares on both Windows and Linux based boxes. Still weird that it hung up and I couldn't add a recovery point.

During the re-implementation I decided to do some testing with local iSCSI based storage on the Acronis Appliance. Is it normal for it to take AGES to create the local storage? It's been creating a 1.7TB partition for almost 45 minutes now.

Hello Raymond,

Thank you for your post. I will do my best to help you.

It is hard to tell what exactly have caused the problem in the first place, but it is possible that when you deployed your appliance you chose a different vSwitch, that is why you were getting that error.

45 minutes is normal since the 1.7 TB volume is getting formatted.

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.
