Restore from usb hard drive through esxi 5.0

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I use Aconis VM Protect 7.0 as virtual appliance on Esxi 5.0.
I would need to restore a vm stored on a USB Hard Disk directly attached to the vm but it seems that it is not supported.
Could you confirm that it is not possible ?

thanks

 Hello Emas,

Thank you for posting your question. I will be happy to assist you with this issue.

Indeed, Acroni vmProtect 7 Virtual Appliance does not support directly attached USB hard disk drives. This functionality is also not yet planned for future versions of this product. In this thread the same functionality limitations were discussed for Acronis Backup and Recovery 11.5.

In order to perform the restore, attach the USB hard drive to a virtual or a physical machine and share the contents of the disk. You can then access the share from Acronis vmProtect 7. You can also copy the backup to any of the supported media like HDD, Network Folders, FTP, SFTP.

Should you have any other questions, let me know.

Thank you.
