Restoring Exchange Item Extract

Thread needs solution

The self extracting executable will not open no matter what.

Have tried with Office 2013 and Office 2016 both 32bit and 64bit.

The message received is:

"Failed to located the MAPI library. You should have Microsoft Outlook installed"

Have also tried with Outlook open and closed, same outcome.

Please can you provide some insight as we need to restore some specific mailbox folders and items as a matter of priority.

Thank you.

Hi,

In order to extract Exchange items into .pst from generated .exe package it should be enough to have Microsoft Office 2013 installed (I've just confirmed this by extracting items from my machine with MS Office 2013 installed). One thing I can think of why it doesn't work for you is that there were some specifics in the MS Office installation sequence (upgrade/downgrade), which prevented MAPI from installing properly. Please try an alternative way: download this package from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39045 and install it onto a spare machine where you _don't_ have MS Outlook installed, then run the Acronis-generated .exe package with Exchange items. If this doesn't help please contact our support team for further assistance.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply, both the Office 2016 are Office 365 subscriptions (so Office 365 Pro Plus which is the Office 2016 suite) and were fresh installs.

I will try install the package on a VM shortly and advise you of the results.

Appreciate your response and will be in touch shortly.

Thanks

Hi JC,

In your original post you mentioned Microsoft Office 2013 which should be the most fail-proof way in this scenario. If you can have a VM with just Office 2013 installed and try running recovery from there - there are big chances that it will work right away.

P.S. The .pst generation scheme used in the current version of Acronis Backup for VMware is pending to be replaced with new one in the next version coming this year - we will support direct recovery into MS Exchange.

Thank you.
