SBS2008 avec option MS Exchange, MS Active Directory, MS SQL
Bonjour,

Hi Vincent,
The error indicates that the standard "InitiateFileTransferFromGuest" VMware Tools API call didn't get through and couldn't copy the files inside the guest VM. If this problem started only after upgrading from 8th to 9th version then it is likely that you haven't updated the Acronis Agent installed inside the VM (the agent which is extracted as .msi from the main installation package when you run it and choose "Extract components" option). If that is not the case then I'd recommended re-installing VMware tools inside the VM and re-trying the operation.
If the problem still persists please capture the full log (the currently attached logs contain only errors without the full context) from View->Show Logs->Save All To File + Windows system information outputs from the guest OS of the VM and contact our support team for further assistance.
Thank you.

Hi Vasily,
Reinstallation of the Acronis Backup Agent installed inside the VM don't change anything, I still have the same issue.
I attach the log file, in case it might help
Thank you.

Hi Vincent,
Can you please clarify whether you tried my suggestion to re-install VMware Tools inside the VM? The error which is thrown is still pointing out to VMware Tools problems which cannot handle the standard API request. Also it makes sense to check the RAM consumption inside the VM - in some cases if the RAM utilization is high, then VMware Tools may not respond properly.
Thank you.

Hi,
No I can't delete and re-installe VMwareTools for the moment, a reboot is requiered and the VM is under production.
Maybe I can do it this night just before the backup job.
This server has 1GB of free RAM, if it's enought for VMProtect8 why not for VMP9...
I'll be back tomorrow if I have could restart the server.
Thank you

Hi,
VMware Tools re-installed and VM rebooted... same issue.
I have add RAM and CPU... same issue.
The log attached seems to be the same.
The error occurs at the end of copy, after 30 minutes of work. This is the usual time to save this VM.
The backup completes properly if I don't activate the option SQL, Exchange and AD.
A other VM with this option (SQL Only) will backup correctly.
If someone has an idea, I'm interested.
Thank you

Hi Vincent,
The VMware Tools interaction is part of application-aware processing so the problem should be reproducible only when you enable application-aware backup option (which you have confirmed). The problem may also be related to execution of the application metadata collection code inside the VM - first we copy scripts into %temp%\GUID folder inside the VM and then execute them to pick up the collected metadata. Something might went wrong there in the middle of the metadata collection process (likely some specific inside the guest OS of the VM). It makes sense to contact our support team for further assistance with reference to this thread (probably a remote assistance session will be required).
Thank you.
