Unable to configure cifs shares for second destination backup

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Since few days I can´t configure the second destination backup to cifs share. the web console hangs on trying to show folders... The credentials are good and I can access from another windows machines.

The cifs share is a shared QNAP v4.2  folder.

I have tried an alternative by publishing a ftp folder but the job takes too long... About 3 days...

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Such problems may appear if the share is available via both NFS and CIFS protocols from the QNAP device. It makes sense to try disabling NFS protocol for this particular share in NAS configuration. If this doesn't help then make sure you're running the latest build of Acronis Backup for VMware (there were known compatibility issues with QNAP devices fixed in the latest builds). Another thing to try is to use Windows Agent instead of Virtual Appliance - Acronis Backup for VMware Windows Agent uses native Windows drivers to access the network share, while Virtual Appliance is running on Linux and thus may be affected by such problems. Also to exclude possibility of web browser glitch it makes sense to try accessing any other normal share (on plain Windows machine for example) and see if it works - this will localize the issue. If nothing of the above helps please contact our support team for assistance.

Thank you.

Thanks for the answer,

The share is only available via CIFS, the Virtual Appliance and Qnap are running the latest builds. I have tried to acces to the share using a plain Windows machine and I can access without any problem.

I also tried to create a new Virtual Appliance but it still not work for me...

I think the only solution is using windows agent but I don't undertstand why it was working correctly before.

Best regards

Hi,

If it worked before and now doesn't even on _new_ appliance then likely the problem is related to some changes in QNAP configuration and/or firmware update of the device. In any case we have experience fixing similar issues, so our support team should be able to help with further troubleshooting.

Thank you.

Well, I am still waiting for an answer from Acronis support team. The case ID was created on monday but silence...

Thanks
