Upgrading VM Hardware Version of vmProtect Appliance

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

does anybody know if it is necessaray to upgrade the virtual hardware of the vmProtect Appliance, after upgrading to ESX 5.1
or if there are an issues, when doing so?

Hi Peter,

The virtual hardware upgrade for appliance doesn't make sense as long as it is "7". In vmProtect 7 the virtual hardware version was 4, which made it impossible to use VMXNET3 network adapter. This problem is gone in 8th version of vmProtect so now it is running VMXNET3 nework adapter by default. Upgrading the virtual hardware to 8th version is not recommended since we haven't tested it and it actually doesn't make sense since all virtual devices attached to appliance work on 7th version of virtual hardware.
