vmProtect 6 fails to see the archives on a CIFS share
Hi,
I am evaluating vmProtect 6, and I do like most of what I see. I have had it backing up four VMs in two tasks over night, with 30 minute intervals, and in general it has been fine (just is darn slow on one of the VMs for some reason).
My installation runs in a VM (the one provided by the vmProtect setup) on the one ESXi host I am backing up VMs on, and the backup repository is on a CIFS share provided by a FreeNAS (which happens to run on the same ESXi as well).
Today I shut down the vmProtect VM, rebooted the NAS VM, and turned on the vmProtect VM again. Since then backups fail with the message I have pasted below (it is for one of the two jobs I have, but both of them state the same thing).
This is the second time this has happened, and in summary if I go to manually validate the archive (after supplying credentials in the validation's location selection, the list where the archives should be is just empty).
So to clarify; It seems to be able to log in to the CIFS share (at least it doesn't tell me it hasn't), but there aren't any archives listed.
I have however verified that the actual .TIB files are indeed right there in the folder where they should be (in the below example there is a Kerio_2011_12_27_02_30_15_377D.TIB file), and it is owned by the user I am providing in the login to the share when in the validation view. I have verified this using two seperate systems which connect and see the files just fine (one Windows XP and one OS X 10.6), so the NAS seems to be working from what I can tell.
I would like to find a solution (and cause) to this issue, as I would like to have vmProtect working and buy it assuming it works.
By the way, I tried with both 'AD\acronis' (AD being the domain) and just 'acronis', no working on any of them. AD\acronis is what has been working over night when backing up.
Thanks in advance.
