vmProtect 7 update 2 keeps rebooting itself

Thread needs solution

I have both vmProtect 8 beta and vmprotect 7 update 2 installed. After returning from a week off vacation, I notice vmProtect 7 was shutdown. I turned it back on (virtual appliance) and I noticed that it is now using DHCP for an IP address. I went to change it back to it's original IP and it flashes error really fast and then it reboots.

So I just watched it and I notice it is in a reboot loop constantly and I don't even have to touch it... it just reboots itself.

The time is wrong in it too, but it reboots too fast to correct it.

Not having this problem in vmProtect 8 beta. Should I just move my jobs over to the 8 beta and discard this?

I just recreated all my jobs in vmProtect 8 beta and I'm going to abandon vmProtect 7 virtual appliance since it will not stay started.

I had 2 failures (queuice time out issue like always), 1 warning and 22 successful backups on vmProtect 8 beta.

Hello KJSTech,

Thank you for posting and keeping the post updated. I will be happy to help you with this issue.

I recommend you to install the newly released [[Acronis vmProtect 8]] build 8128. It has many fixes to the issues found in Acronis vmProtect 7 including fixes to the crash issues.

In future, in order to investigate the issues of virtual appliance crashes, you would need to collect the dump files as described in this KB article in part Troubleshooting steps, and then submit a support case.

Should you have any other questions, let me know.

Thank you.

This issue is continuing to happen with VMProtect 8 8184....

My appliance out of the blue just started rebooting itself. After a long while it stopped and now it is stuck on DHCP configuration. Resetting it in the console, has no affect.

Hi dspjones,

I see that you have reported this issue here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/40962#comment-128319 and you've already contacted support. Can you please send me a private message with the case ID so that I can follow up with our support managers and find out what happened?

Simple appliance redeployment should be used only as last resort effort, but not as final solution. The reasons for the failure must be identified in any case. Such issues are typically unique ones, i.e. the reasons differ from one case to another, so investigation is definitely required.

Thank you.
