Vmprotect 7.0 not sending notification emails

Thread needs solution

Hi

I have an Acronis Vmprotect 7.0 Virtual Machine on an ESXI Host.

My problem is that Vmprotect is failing to send notification emails for backup completion, failure, errors, etc - it's not sending anything at all. I can however, send a test email successfully - so my SMTP settings are correct.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Hi,

There can be several reasons for such behavior: 1) specifics of the SMTP server used (it can accept empty test messages, but cannot do that for larger e-mails with the log content) 2) A problem in particular vmProtect 7 build which is quite an old version and there were multiple fixes done since then

I'd recommended to check first of all whether using an alternative SMTP server works properly or not:

See http://kb.acronis.com/content/26124 which describes how to set up e-mail notifications through Gmail account.

Also the logs from the backup operation should contain the messages which indicate the reason for e-mail notification failure and they can be revealed as described the following KB: http://kb.acronis.com/content/33791

Another thing to try is to upgrade to Acronis vmProtect 9 (or set it up in trial mode to ensure that it really fixes the problem).

Thank you.
