vmprotect 9 and AD backups
ok, i see its now clever enough to see AD application within a VM, great.
But how do i restore this data?
Thanks

okay thanks. how does this differ to the sharepoint, sql and exchange backup/recovery?

Hi,
In case of SQL/Exchange/SharePoint - we also provide granular application items recovery - that's besides ensuring the application data consistency inside the backup.
Thank you.

Im sure this made the backups run much longer (using v7-v8).
Is it still the same with the latest version?

Hi chi-ltd,
The backup speed should not be affected too much by enabling application-aware processing - all it does is running a script inside the VM to collect the VSS metadata which is relatively small in size. The most time usually is taken for the creation of quiesced snapshot which can take up to 30 min or more on heavily loaded systems since it forces the VSS-aware applications to flush transactions to disk, however this process is performed regardless of application-aware option.
Thank you.

forgot to add, would running ese maintenance or acronis backup or backup exec database to tape before the replication task starting cause slowness?

It's unlikely, though if these tasks interfere with the replication one (run at the same time), then it can be the reason for slowness due to increased load onto the VM and onto the underlying host.
