VMProtect 9 jobs did not run

Thread needs solution

I noticed that none of my backup jobs have run over the weekend. I had to reboot the appliance to get it to acknowledge that they failed. The only thing in the logs for each job is:
Task 'Back up Misc (exchange, etc)' changed its state from 'idle' to 'waiting'.
To get the backup job to work, I have to edit then save the settings of the job. Any ideas???

Hi Bill,

The tasks may go into "waiting" state only when there are more than 5 tasks (5 is the default value) running simultaneously (the 6th task will be put into "waiting" state in queue). If you have multiple tasks scheduled for approximately the same time, then it makes sense to increase the RAM assigned to virtual appliance up to 2-4GB to mitigate the high load. Also the situation you describe (the tasks hung up) is not really normal, so I'd recommended to investigate it separately by collecting the logs (View->Show Logs->Save All To File) and contacting our support team.

Thank you.

I can now replicate the issue at will. If I restart the appliance (Server 2008 R2), then no jobs run when scheduled. They all show the same issue. If I edit the job, then SAVE AND RUN, then the job will run as scheduled.

Hi Bill,

Thank you for the additional details - in this case it would be better to contact our support team for assistance. We will need to reproduce the issue locally and to get there we'll need the following additional details:

1) The full log captured from web console: View->Show Logs->Save All To File
2) The contents of C:\ProgramData\Acronis\vmProtect\ folder packed in .zip (it contains infrastructure information related to vmProtect tasks).

Thank you.
