vmProtect no statistics available

Thread needs solution

Hi

I installed the latest version of Acronis for VMware in a home lab (with the Trial Licence). I performed some backup tasks and everything works really well.

Can somebody tell me why i cannot see any statistical data for the last backup tasks? The Data for bytes transmitted, Backing up and speed are always not available or i only see some data when the backup is running.

This applies to all tasks (backup, recovery, copy, etc.). It would be nice to see what performacne the last tasks are done.

Do I need to configured something else or is this by design?

Kind regards
Keks22

Hi,

In the current version of Acronis Backup for VMware (former vmProtect 9) the backup and other tasks statistics such as bytes transmitted or speed is not kept after completion of the task. You can only check the time it took to complete the task (there are Start and Finish time values kept) and this time-to-complete values can be tracked via e-mail notifications for example. We are planning to add extended statistics into the next version of Acronis Backup for VMware though in order to make it more flexible.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for your really quick reply! :-) Your answer is good for me.

I hope that some other Features will also be able in a newer Version. :-)

- Domain Membership (it's terrible when always ask me for username and Password)

PS: Can you tell me if vmProtect vCenter Plugin works with vCenter Server Appliance?

Hi,

The username/password is cached when you connect to "Recent Locations", i.e. you don't need to input it more than once after connecting to the web console. In the browsing dialogue, just unfold the "Recent Locations" folder. All your backup locations will appear in this list after you access them for the first time, i.e. save backup there or add the location in View->Recovery Points view. The cache is reset after some time you close the web console (i.e. terminate connection). Also in the next version we plan to add separate credentials management interface to store/edit/remove required usernames/passwords :)

What concerns your question about the vCenter plug-in - when you enable the vCenter integration from web console (or during installation) the plug-in is registered on vCenter, so that any vSphere client connected to vCenter gets the plug-in downloaded (and you get the Acronis Backup for VMware functionality from this vSphere client GUI). This works independently from vCenter installation type, i.e. it can be Windows-based or appliance-based.

Thank you.

Hi,

Yes, thats the Problem. If i Close the Web Console and open it again i have to Login to the Backup Locations again. The Locations are always there but the username and Password will not be cached by the appliance (i think this will cached for the session by the browser).

A credentials Manager inside the appliance would be nice where i can add credentials for the different Locations/Hosts and the appliance will intuitive take the right one.
