VMProtect Snapshot times out on Exchange 2003 Server

When I try to backup an Exchange 2003 server which houses the mail databases I get a snapshot times out error on the VSphere server.

I was getting a different error but removed - reinstalled the vmware tools and now the snapshot just times out.

I am able to take a snapshot manually and remove it manually.

Vsphere 4
Virtual Server 2003 R2 with Exchange 2003 SP2
VMProtect6

I think I may have figured it out. The Exchange server has Shadowprotect installed for backups. I installed Shadowprotect on another server and it also times out when trying to do snapshots. I then removed it and it worked as it should.

I will test Exchange tonight and post my findings. Its a production machine so I have to plan the reboot.

This issue is resolved. The problem ended up being that Shadoprotect was installed on the server. For some reason this kept VMProtect from being able to snapshot the machine. Once I removed shadowprotect and then rebooted I was able to backup the machine using VMProtect.

I have a couple servers with Symantec imaging on them. I will see if this causes the same issue.
