Backup failed The credentials for location '//192.168.x.x/Backup$/' are not specified.

Thread needs solution

Hello everyone.

We recently updated to Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 Build: 16545 and are now seeing issues with local SMB login to a QNAP NAS (current FW version).

We have several new virtual servers (Windows 2019) which should be backed up to an SMB share using a Acronis job. When creating the SMB target connection in the backup job, we are asked for the user name and password at each folder level (SMB server, SMB share, SMB subfolder). We have to enter this 4-5 times (depending on the order structure) to get to the final SMB destination folder.

As soon as the backup job has started, this error message appears:

Backup failed

The credentials for location '//192.168.x.x/Backup$/' are not specified.

Error code 1803

TROUBLESHOOT:

In the protection plan, provide correct credentials for user '192.168.x.x\Username' and location '//192.168.x.x/Backup$/'.

Detail:

Message: TOL: Failed to execute the command. Backup plan

Message: Failed to execute the command.

Message: TOL: Failed to execute the command. Backup workflow

Message: Step 'Backup' has failed.

Message: Access to the file is denied.

Message: The user name or password is incorrect

Sometimes the error message only comes at the end of the backup job (image file created).

With the existing Acronis agents, which we had only updated to the new version, we only have to enter the SMB authentication one times in the job configuration and the backup runs without any problems.

I have already created several servers and test backup jobs, but I can't find the cause of this problem.

I would be very happy about suggestions and tips.

Thank you in advaned

Marco

Hello Marco.

There are issues reported with the QNAP NAS.

Please check the following KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/67624

Please also try to reboot the NAS either confirm again the credentials are introduced correctly in the plans.

Unfortunately we don't have support for the 12.5 version, so if the issue persists you could try to downgrade to the older builds and check if it works: https://kb.acronis.com/content/71847

Thanks in advance!
