The credentials for location '******' for user 'admin' are incorrect.
I currently utilize Acronis Cyber Backup on a Windows server 2016 system. My objective is to create a backup of a network share, specifically a Synology NAS. Upon entering the NAS's IP address, the software prompts me for my username and password in the "domain\user" format.
I successfully provide the credentials, allowing me to access all the file shares on the NAS without any issues.
However, upon clicking "apply," an error message appears, indicating that the provided credentials are incorrect. Despite ensuring that I've granted all possible SMB permissions and disabled the firewall, the problem persists.
I can also mount this fileshare as network share in the same machine
Are any of you aware of these errors?
Many thanks in advance!

Hello!
Thanks for posting.
Please note the version 12.5 is out of lifecycle so we can't tell you precisely if there are ongoing issues as it's not being tested or supported anymore.
I advise you to check the following solutions:
-
Check Credential Format: Ensure that the credentials you're entering are in the correct format (domain\user). Double-check for any typos or case-sensitive issues.
-
Verify Permissions: Confirm that the provided user account has the necessary permissions on both the Synology NAS and the Windows Server. Check if the user account has the required access rights to perform backup operations.
-
Use IP Address or Hostname: Instead of using the NAS's IP address, try entering the hostname when configuring the network share in Acronis Cyber Backup. Sometimes, using the hostname can resolve authentication issues.
-
Update Acronis Cyber Backup: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Acronis Cyber Backup. Check for any updates or patches that might address compatibility issues or bugs. ( or re-install ).
-
Review NAS Logs: Check the logs on the Synology NAS for any authentication or access-related messages. This might provide additional insights into why the credentials are being rejected.
-
Network Share Mounting: Since you mentioned that you can mount the file share as a network share on the same machine, verify that the same credentials work consistently when manually mounting the share.
-
Test with Different Credentials: If possible, try using different credentials to see if the issue persists. This can help identify whether it's a specific account-related problem.
-
Reboot the NAS
Best regards.
