Mystery red X with no error message - Add Location > Cloud Storage > Sign in

Thread needs solution

I'm getting a Red X without an error message.

Explanation:

I have Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 (16545) (Win Server 2016) and want to add my Acronis Cloud Storage as a location.

"Add Location" > Cloud Storage > Sign in, it spins then shows a red X above the sign in, with no message.

Investigating the browser in DevTools:  Console shows a 403 Forbidden, on a POST to localhost:9877/api/ams/locations/cloud

My sign in is correct, and the Cloud Storage has worked in the past.  I can log into the "cloud.acronis" and "account.acronis".

I reinstalled Acronis 12.5, opened all ports on firewall, monitored local firewall, turned off AV, multiple browsers, incog, clear cache,..

Has anyone else had this sort of issue?, it's like a local web server issue in Acronis, what are some troubleshooting steps from here?  Just seams so strange for it not work suddenly.

Hello!

Welcome to the forum!

Please be aware that the account associated with your email does not have any quotas for cloud backups. Instead, you have a perpetual license for Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 Advanced Virtual Host. Ensure that the Cloud storage is not registered under another email or account, as that could be the cause of the issue. Please note that only Acronis Cloud storage can be added; we do not support 3rd-party cloud storages for this product unless you use Cyber Infrastructure, as stated in the following KB: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisCyberBackup_12.5/#about-cyber-infrastructure.html

To troubleshoot the issue, please run the following tests on your machine:

  1. Connection tool: https://kb.acronis.com/content/47678

  2. Check the connection to the customer's assigned Cloud Storage with OpenSSL: https://kb.acronis.com/node/62641

If the output reveals any errors, you will need to open the respective Port/IP.

If there are no errors, please raise a ticket with our support team and attach screenshots showing that the outputs of the connection tests are good: https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153

Thanks in advance!

I ran into this issue today. Unfortunately, Acronis support was not able to help. I was told that we had to upgrade to version 15, even though I know for a fact that this worked on 12.5 previous versions.

Were you able to resolve this? Or should we start considering another product that supports cloud storage?

Hello!

The situation remains the same and there aren't plans for it to change. Acronis doesn't allow you to directly add third-party storage for Acronis Backup 12.5. You can only add it through Cyber Infrastructure, which is not a free product addon:

Additionally, please be aware that we no longer offer support for Acronis Backup 12.5 since 2021, as it is a legacy version. For more details, refer to our support lifecycle information: https://www.acronis.com/en-eu/support/lifecycle/business/#cyber-backup

Best regards.

Hello!

I'll hijack this thread for a moment, since I just ran into the same problem as OP. Running a Server 2019 Essentials with a freshly re-installed Cyber Backup 12.5. I have removed alll prior files from ProgramData and Program Files before reinstalling.

After that removal, Cyber Backup was successfully installed and linked to my account. I can see the correct licenses associated with my account. But when I try to add my Acronis Cloud Storage, I get the aforementioned unhelpful error.

I am aware, that Acronis Cyber Backup is EOL, but I should still be able to use it as before. I could access the Cloud Storage before the reinstallation, nothing else was changed. And since I have just extended my Cloud Storage for 3 years, I would like to be able to use it!

How can I find out what error that is? There are no typos and I can login online without any problems.

Thanks in advance

Hello!

I have reviewed the account, and it seems that the license you purchased is meant to be used with Acronis Cyber Protect 15 and not with Acronis Backup 12.5.

I suggest you contact our sales representative or your reseller to check if they are compatible, as I suspect they may not be usable together.

You can also raise a ticket with our support at https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153.

Best regards.
