Updating a Client Agent after a workstation Name Change
Good morning. I'm trying to update an agent on a Windows workstation where the workstation NetBIOS name has changed since installation. Here's what I'm seeing:
09:55 AM — 09:55 AM (2 sec)
Installing/updating the agent on the machine 'PATTY-HOME'
Status:Error
Device:ACRONIS-01.TRACER.local
Started by:TRACER\possebob_admin
Start time:Jul 14, 2021, 09:55:17 AM
Finish time:Jul 14, 2021, 09:55:19 AM
Duration:2 sec
Failed to connect to \\PATTY-HOME\admin$\Temp. The user name or password is incorrect. Please refer to Acronis knowledge base for possible solution.
The new workstation name is PATTY-LENOVO. Everything within CyberProtect updated automagically -- except this Agent Update process. It doesn't seem to be aware of the name change. Does this process require a re-install of the agent on the workstation side or is there a fix from the server side I can make?
Thanks!

Hello Bob,
thank you for posting on Acronis forums!
During installation, Agent saves the machine name. You can re-install the Agent on this machine or update the saved machine name in the system:
On Windows: saved machine name can be found in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\Settings\CachedMachineName
On Mac:
/Library/Application Support/Acronis/Common/BackupAndRecovery.config
Change CachedMachineName parameter
On Linux:
/etc/Acronis/BackupAndRecovery.config
Change CachedMachineName parameter
After updating the saved machine name, restart Acronis Managed Machine Service.
