12.5 Backup plans - device groups?

Thread needs solution

Hi!

I'm a long-time 11.7 user recently doing side-by-side migration to 12.5.

In 11.7 we were able to create a backup plan based around a device group. You could then add devices to that group and they would automatically be included in the plan.

In 12.5 there doesn't seem to be a way to select a device group as the scope for a backup - you have to select devices. This means that if devices are later added to a group they aren't automatically included in the plan.

This seems like a large step backwards - have I missed something or misunderstood?

TIA!

Hello Justin,

welcome to Acronis forums!

Please follow Devices -> Machine with Agents here you can always create a group where you should be able to place the agents (click on the gear icon and select New group).

After the group is created you can place machines to a group: select the respective machines with Agents from a list and click on Add to group at the right pane.

When you create a backup plan then you can either create a New backup plan or apply the existing using Backup option (Machine with Agents, select the Group you created and click on Backup at the right pane)

If you try to create a backup plan via the Plans tab, then when you add the devices you can also choose Machines with agents group at first and select there the group you've created.

Ah, thanks! I was misunderstanding the UI - trying to select the folder to back-up in the folder list on the left - now I see you can select the folder in the right-window when browsing the parent.

Thanks for your very clear instructions!
