12.5 Retention settings for large VHDX file backups that sync offsite?

Thread solved

We want to backup a set of VHDX files and then sync the .TIBX files with a cloud account. The OS and DATA VHDX files total about 250GB. We created a custom backup plan and SPLIT the files into max 15GB since the cloud sync max file size is 20GB. We set the How Long to Keep at 1 Week and 1 Day hoping that there would be minor changes each day and it would not sync all new 15GB TIBX files each day. We are getting new file time/date stamps each day so the sync sees them as new files. What would be the best way to accomplish this? The actual data in the 2012R2 VM changes only a small amount each day. Thanks!

Hello Bob,

welcome to Acronis forums!

I advise that you disable Fast incremental/differential backup option. It backs up the entire file if any changes were made - and they are being made to your files every day.

Otherwise, you can install a respective Acronis Agent inside your VM and back it up as an entire machine or disk/volumes backup.

Thanks for the suggestions. This is a File/Folder backup and now that my changed to the retention have settled in, it looks like we accomplished what we wanted. The first 13 files at 15GB are simply updated with a date/time stamp. They are not being re-sent offsite. The last file with any changes is sent offsite. So its working like we wanted to minimize the traffic.

Thanks!
