Acronis Backup 12.5 cross-domains

Thread needs solution

We are planning to use Acronis Management Server to back-up machines that are placed in other separate forests/domains, in order to have a central management solution for backups. (Each domain will have its own NAS for storing the backups)
Can someone tell me what is the best solution for using Acronis Backup 12.5 for backing up systems cross-domains?
Are there step-by-step procedure for how to do this in the best way?
I know that it is possible to add the clients manually by registering the Agents, but I was looking for something that does not required manual work on each client machine.
Are there pros/cons for different options?

Hello Gaute,

thank you for your interest in Acronis Cyber Backup!

There should not be any problem for Acronis Cyber Backup components for operating in different domains.

The main requirement is the accessibility of backup locations for Agents and Agents for the Management Server: open all the ports required, set read/write acess privileges for backup locations, all required remote installation components are available. Please read the installation overview and limitations here: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisCyberProtect_15/index.html#36428.html

For example, here are requirements and procedure for on-premise remote installation of Agents for Windows: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisCyberProtect_15/index.html#36533.html

We recommend that you test a trial version of the software in your environment: remotely install Agents to another domaints and create separate backup plans for devices in one domain with the same backup location.

Hi Maria,

Thanks for information. I will review and let you know if I get follow-up questions.

About the document-links, I can see they are for Acronis Cyber Protect 15. Do you have a link for 12.5, or are both versions covered in the ones provided?

Hello Gaute.

Here are the links for Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5. As you can see, these instructions are the same.

Installation overview and limitations https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisCyberBackup_12.5/#36428.html

On-premise remote installation of Agents for Windows: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisCyberBackup_12.5/#36533.html

However, the trial version of Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 is not available anymore. Instead, we recommend that you look at Acronis Cyber Backup 15 edition of Acronis Cyber Protect 15, here is the features comparison list: https://kb.acronis.com/content/65304
