Backing up HyperV Hosts, but not Vm's

Thread needs solution

HI Folks,

A question about backing up HyperV hosts. When i install Acronis, i always create two backup plans, one for the host and one for the VM's. No issues with the VM plan, but, when backing up the Host, is there any way of excluding the VM files to cut down backup times and duplication of VM data? I only need to be able to do a disaster recovery on just the C drive ( should that raid fail ), as the VM's are always on a separate RAID array. Can anyone advise on this?

Many thanks

Andrew

Hello Andrew,

Welcome to Acronis forums!

If a Hyper-V host resides on C drive, then when creating a backup plan select an entire machine and exclude all other drives except C drive.

Hi there...many thanks for the reply. When creating the backup plan, i selected the entire machine, but i do not see anywhere for exclusions to be set?

Many thanks

Andrew

Hello Andrew.

Please use file filters in order to exclude volumes.
