Backup replication - Existing backups deleted
I have a small installation of 1 management server and 5 clients. Each client performs regular full (6 months) and incremental (monthly) backups to a locally installed separate hard drive. These backups are then replicated from each client to a separate disk on the management server. The replication task is configured for each client as a separate task and is not schedule.
All machines are W7 Pro running v12.5.9010.
The problem is that when I manually initiate the replication task it copies the latest backups from the clients to the server but deletes the first backup (Nov 19) I had stored on the management server. On the first client I had the type as 'Latest only', but changed this on the second client to 'Full backups only', but the first backup was still deleted in the destination. On the third client I changed it again to 'All backups' but had the same results in that it deleted the first backup.
The logs are telling me that it is deleting the backups as part of the task, but I am unable to figure out why as the retention period for backups is time based and set to 2 years. Given that the backup that is being deleted is from Nov 2019 this should not cause an issue.
I ran the task a second time on the third client and it copied more 'backups' but just created an additional file xxxxxxxx - 002.tibx file and did not show any further backups in the management console. All the other client files are made up of 2 files the xxxxxxx.tibx and xxxxxxxx - 001.tibx.
I still have copies of all the backups on the clients but need to get replication to work, as I need it on several other small setups I am supporting. I am hoping that it is just my lack of understanding of exactly how this works but I have been through the manuals and other instructions and the terminology looks quite logical i.e. 'latest only', 'Full only' and 'All backups'.
