Cancelling Office 365 Account Need Backup

Thread needs solution

Hi, Is there an easy way to use Acronis to backup my Office 365 Small Business Account as I'm planning to cancel it. I need my OneDrive and MS Outlook data (email, calendar) backed up. Thanks.

It depends on what Acronis product you are using. With True Image Home 2020 (and 2019 and possibly 2018) you can backup your One Drive and MS Outlook to Acronis Cloud. This is done without downloading to your PC - it is doen directly between the Microsoft server and the Acronis Server. Once you have done so you can download the files to a local PC.

You could also try using ATI 2019 (or earlier) to do a files and folders backup of the relevant directories on the PC. Make sure that for OneDrive you have deactivated files on demand (all files will then be downloaded) before running the backup. Do not use libraries use the path name when selecting the data to be backed-up. It would probably be best to do the backup using recovery media to make sure that you have backed-up the current status of your MS Outook data.

I would also from within Outlook export your contacts so that they can be easily imported into your new email client.

I do not know if you can import Outlook Emails into other email clients. If you are going to use another version of MS Office, then I would copy all of your emails to a archive, which uses *.pst rather than *.ost format and can be imported into Outlook. You cannot import *.ost. Or you could just download all the emails from your account assuming you have it set up for Exchange Server or IMAP (not POP) once you have installed your new Outlook client or other mail client. This will not however retain your contacts (I thing that if you use exchange server the contacts may be on the server, you would need to check that out).

You will need to research the ability to import backed up emails into your new client before proceeding.

Hello Michael,

thanks for posting on Acronis forums!

We also suggest that you try Acronis Backup 12.5 for Office 365 which is specially designed for these purposes: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_12.5/index.html#37939.html

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry so late to respond.

I'm going to be deleting my Office 365 account, if I get a trial version of Acronis Backup 12.5 for Office 365, can I use Acronis True Image to view the files? I'm purchasing a license for True Image 2020.

Hello Michael.

I'm going to be deleting my Office 365 account, if I get a trial version of Acronis Backup 12.5 for Office 365, can I use Acronis True Image to view the files? I'm purchasing a license for True Image 2020.

Backups created with Acronis Backup 12.5 could not be recovered with Acronis True Image 2020. Please read this Kb article for more details: https://kb.acronis.com/content/1689

Please also note that different object types can be recovered with Acronis Backup 12.5 for Office 365 and Acronis True Image 2020 .

I recommend that you test a trial version and register it to the same email account in order to test which online backups created with Acronis Backup 12.5 for Office 365 could be accessed/viewed with Acronis True Image 2020.
