Could not find network path. (smb port)

Thread solved

Hello.

I am writing because there was a problem creating the backup schedule.

My client staff specified the backup path as a network path as shown below.
smb:\\External IP value of storage\folder name
However, the message "The network path could not be found." was displayed and the folder could not be selected.

Next, I specified the backup path as the network path as shown below.
smb:\\Internal IP value of storage\folder name
It is the same storage device with only different IPs, but this path was successfully specified without any problems.

I opened the following ports to set the external IP value path of the repository.

TCP 7780, 7755, 7756, 7765, 9852, 9860, 9862, 9876, 9877
TCP 139, 445
UDP 137, 138

However, the internal IP of the storage can still be designated normally,
The external IP of the repository is in a state that cannot be specified due to "The network path cannot be found".

Are there any additional ports I need to open?
Please let me know if you have more information to solve the problem.

Thank you.

Hello Lemoning,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

Please make sure that a backup location is accessible from the Agent by external IP. You do not need to open any extra ports, just make the backup location accessible for the machine which backup is stored there.

Hello Maria,

If I test the external ip on the agent with ping and telnet, there is no problem.
Even when I moved the path in Windows Explorer, it went well without any problems.

If it's not a port problem, can you tell me which parts of the network should be checked?

And can I change the port used by Acronis to another port 139, 445?
(The customer wants to use a different port due to the security vulnerability of ports 139 and 445.)

Thank you.

Hello Maria,

The customer is designating a backup path from Vietnam (other countries) to domestic storage equipment.
As a result of inquiring about this with the NAS staff
Although the exact cause is not known, it is said that the Windows OS is blocking access.
So my client decided to use a VPN, and this problem will probably be solved.

It would be appreciated if you could tell me how to do it for ports 139 and 445.

Thank you.

Hello Lemoning,

upon your request I've clarified this questions with our experts and they provided the following information:

> Port 445 is used by Microsoft and a part of our remote installation process is based on this Microsoft port.
> In Microsoft KB we can see that the port is connected with SMB shares:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/204279/direct-hosting-of-smb-over-tcp-ip

> That means that Acronis uses default Microsoft port to place the remote_instalaltion_service.exe in the admin share on a target machine. If you do not want to use this port you can check it with Microsoft, may be it is possible to change the port. Then Acronis will use another port too.
