Cyber Backup 12.5 bare-metal recovery fails

Thread needs solution

Hi All

I have two licenses for the Cyber Backup 12.5, both the Standard and Advanced. I attempted a bare metal restore of a backup using the boot media and no matter what I do, the recovery process crashes and the computer reboots. I've tried two separate computers, separate HDD's and two versions of the universal restore/boot media.

I've check all settings, initial configuration of each system and so on. I'm not at the point where the machine has been reinstalled and I want to do a granular recovery but even this seems impossible.

I have a server running Veritas Backup Exec and whenever I want to do a recovery, bare metal or granular, it works every time without fail.

I read somewhere in the forum about disk director having problems with the sector size of the HDD, that it must be 512 bytes. Could this be the problem? Could the problem be with the allocation table? The backup drive is a GPT and the new drive is a MBR.

Any assistance with this is greatly appreciated.

Hello Riccardo,

Welcome to Acronis forums!

First of all, we recommend that you check this detailed step-by-step instructions on restoration procedure: https://kb.acronis.com/content/35681

If the restoration fails, please share the error message, an activity log of this recovery and/or follow this KB article with troubleshooting steps: https://kb.acronis.com/content/45432

Could this be the problem? Could the problem be with the allocation table? The backup drive is a GPT and the new drive is a MBR.

This should not be an issue since you can select the required boot mode in recovery options.
