Cyber Backup 12.5 SFTP Backup has slow upload rate

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

at the moment I am facing the problem that I try to upload a complete backup (system image) of Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Standard (VM) with Acronis Cyber Backup Virtual Host 12.5 Standard via Internet on an SFTP-Server.

The internet connection has an upload capacity of 38 MBit/s, but the upload to my own sftp-server (not Acronis Cloud!) is very slow and between 5 and 6 MBit/s.
I then tried to setup the same SFTP-Connection on the same Windows Server 2019 VM using Filezilla.
And with Filezilla the full bandwidth is used for uploading.
So there is no limit to the SFTP-Connection and the internet connection is not used for other things.
I then thought about wheter it has to do with backup encryption or compression, but even if I setup a backup-plan without encryption and compression I still have this limit of 6Mbit/s maximum. When backup is running the server is idle and it has an intel xeon CPU and lots of RAM. So there are no system limitation that could cause this slow upload speed.
btw: another complete system backup in LAN works without problems with a speed of 90-100 MByte/s.

Can anybody give me a hint why the upload through sftp connection is limited in this case?

Hello Heribert,

Welcome to Acronis forums!

We regret to know that you've encountered this issue. It is a known bug (ABR-168179), the issue is in Acronis SFTP backup client.

Only the first full backup takes a long time via SFTP, the differential/incremental backups are not so big and should be transferred in a reasonable time frame.
